He is also in Voicemale. In addition to singing, he has taken piano lessons for 11 years and has just started taking guitar lessons. 

In his free time, Joseph enjoys playing folk music on guitar, particularly that of Bob Dylan and The Avett Brothers. At Langley, he is in the Cyber Patriots club and also on the Quiz Bowl team. Outside of school, he enjoys doing Taekwondo, as well as learning about history, math, and current affairs. This coming summer, he hopes to attend academic programs for Spanish, math, and science.

Joseph is a junior at Langley High School. Currently, he is in Langley’s Concert Choir, but he will also participate in the Madrigals choir next year.

Peggy McNulty  believes that the total body is the instrument of the voice. She has taught voice for over 30 years. She offers private voice lessons in her McLean, Virginia, studio. 

Peggy teaches teens and adults. Her teaching schedule includes teens representing 10 different high schools! Instruction is tailored to meet each student’s needs and interests. Because music is meant to be shared, students are encouraged to participate in regularly scheduled workshops and recitals.

Peggy McNulty Voice Studio

Peggy’s personal joy in singing and her commitment to teaching have stimulated her students to participate in musical activities in their communities. Several current students are participating in church and school choirs, and also are performing roles in school and community theater. Peggy’s former students maintain contact with her and share their delight in singing as they continue to study and perform. 

Peggy herself continues to study and give performances. She has sought out private instruction for herself. She has 30 years of voice study under the direction of well-known musicians and teachers, including Marianna Busching, Gillian Cookson, Todd Duncan, George Gibson, Dr. James McDonald, Martha Randall, Jennie Tourel, and Jane White. 

Peggy is an active participant in voice-related professional conferences and meetings in the United States.

HAL LEONARD VOCAL COMPETITION

Tracy Waagner, sophomore at McLean High School, has been selected as a finalist in the Hal Leonard 2019 Vocal Competition in the Art Song Division, High School Voices Category (ages 16 to 18). Now in its ninth year, this competition welcomes singers from the United States and Canada and is held entirely on YouTube! 


THE 2019 JAMES C. MACDONALD PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION

Cynthia Hu and Tracy Waagner will participate in  the Macdonald Scholarship Competition finals, sponsored by the McLean Community Center, on March 27. Cynthia is a junior at Langley High School; Tracy is a sophomore at McLean High School.
