2016 NATS Convention
NATS CONVENTION, JULY 2016
Peggy attended the 2016 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Convention in Chicago, which was attended by 1,300 teachers from all over the United States. There were some amazing presentations about voice health, the aging voice, musical styles, humorous art songs, and working with a pianist. The finalists of the two big NATS National Audition competitions (classical and musical theatre) also performed. (See photos in slideshow above.) Peggy met with Edrie Means Weekly, a former student and musical theatre instructor at Shenandoah Conservatory; and soprano Renee Fleming, who was the featured master teacher at the convention. Fleming, a wonderful advocate for the arts, also gave a recital with young singers from the Chicago Lyric Opera Company. Rochelle Fleming, Renee's sister, teaches musical theatre at Catholic University.
